Key Information

Travel Plan

Grayswood CE Primary School are aware that the village can become congested during school drop off and pick up times. To reduce traffic congestion and ensure the safety of all pedestrians, we have put together a plan which includes:

1. A voluntary one-way system
2. Staggered finishing times
3. Car-sharing arrangements
4. Considerate parking
5. Improved safety plans
6. Kiss and Drop

Our voluntary one-way system for parents/guardians at pick-up and drop-off times has improved congestion. This involves ensuring that all school-related traffic travels along Lower Road, up Clammer Hill Road (Klondyke) and back down The Mount. This greatly helps traffic flow.

Key points:

  • Ensure anyone picking up your children is aware of our guidance;
  • Where it is not possible to walk, try to arrange car pooling, especially at pick-up time after school;
  • Please stick to the informal one-way system from 08:15-09:00 and 14:45-15:45;
  • Do not park on Lower Road between the entrance to Grayswood House and the end of the school zig zag lines or at the junction of The Mount and Lower Road;
  • Make sure children cross the road only where the kerb has been dropped and not across the parking bell;
  • If you see another school user not following this advice, please politely inform them as they may not be aware.

If you would like to find out more, please take a look at our leaflet and familiarise yourself with its contents. We welcome everyone's support and cooperation in minimising disruption to road users and residents of Grayswood.

Thank you again for your patience, understanding and cooperation in ensuring our children are kept safe, our community is not inconvenienced and we all work together to make things easier for everyone.
If you have any comments or queries feel free to contact us.

This is carefully supervised by the school staff and our parent volunteers. Your child will need to be ready to get out of your car at the edge of the parking bell and, as soon as they are out of your car safely, you will need to drive off immediately down Lower Road.

The School Travel Plan – A blueprint for getting to and from the school gate

The School Travel Plan (STP) is a working document that sets out the measures our school needs to take and is taking to reduce the impact of the motor car on school and village life. The STP sets targets for different ways of arriving at the school gate as the school expands and how this may be achieved.

The school has an obligation to inform staff and regular visitors as to alternative ways of getting to and from the school other than by individual private car.

For further detailed information check www.surreycc.gov.uk. The school holds no responsibility for any changes to the above services as they are out of the control of the school.

Personalised Travel Planning

The school will be happy to provide individual advice and information to staff and regular visitors on request.
