Grayswood School welcomes The Kerala Heritage Project
To kick off our Inter-Faith week here at Grayswood School, our KS2 children were lucky to receive a visit from international Kathakali actor Kalamandalam Vijayakumar and Kathakali specialist Kalamandalam Barbara Vijayakumar today.
First of all, our Year 5 children took part in a workshop to learn all about the hand gestures, facial expressions and the rhythm, footwork and concentration required of a Kathakali actor.
Then in the afternoon the whole of KS2 gained a deeper understanding of Hinduism through dance and drama and were treated to a performance of a story written especially for Kathakali over 300 years ago.
The Kerala Heritage Project will be performing again at the Haslemere Educational Museum on the 28th October, 4.00pm - 6.00pm.
