Woodpeckers are taught by Mrs Barnes on Mondays and Tuesdays and Mrs Harris on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. We are also supported by Mrs Lines and Mrs Hayden.
This term, our PE days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
We are beginning this term with our topic on Toys! Over the term we will be finding out about how toys have changed over time. We will be doing lots of sorting, sequencing and comparing toys from today and toys from the past, thinking about the materials they are made from and whether they function and, if so, how they work. We will be having an exciting visit from Haslemere Museum later in the term where they will come in, bringing a large range of toys from the past, which we will learn more about, and even get to play with! In Science, we will be investigating everyday materials. The children will be learning to distinguish between objects and the material from which it is made. In Art, we will be using the beautiful winter season to inspire some wintry landscape painting and collage. We will then be working on improving our sketching skills as we learn about proportion, line, tone and texture, to help us create some detailed drawings of our favourite toys. In DT, we will be designing and making our own moving toy as well as learning to sew a puppet. Please take a look at our Spring Term 1 Curriculum overview, which you will find below, if you would like a bit more detail about this half term's learning.
