Woodpeckers are taught by Mrs Barnes on Mondays and Tuesdays and Mrs Harris on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. We are also supported by Mrs Lines and Mrs Hayden.
We are all so happy to be back together again in our lovely Woodpecker Classroom. This half term our topic is Superheroes! We have been doing lots of writing based on stories such as Nat Fantastic and Supertato! We have had several visits from the naughty Evil Pea in Woodpeckers, who has been up to mischief and creating chaos by freezing the poor veggies from the veggie patch! He has also been capturing various veggies and so we have been busy at work writing letters to Evil Pea himself, writing Wanted posters and writing messages to Supertato to ask for his help! We have bene finding out about newspapers and writing our own newspapers about Supertato and Evil Pea! In Topic, we have been finding out about real life 'heroes'. We have been thinking about our NHS heroes who have worked so hard in the pandemic and have talked about other key workers and the important work they do. We have also found out about heroes from the past, such as Karl Benz, George Stephenson, Alexander Graham Bell and the Wright brothers. We have been discussing what makes someone 'significant' and have been finding out about how these people changed people's lives with their inventions, learning about how transport particularly has changed over time.
