Musical Theatre Club Performance

"We kicked off our first ever Grayswood Musical Theatre Club at the start of Summer Term, and each week has brought so much energy, entertainment, and incredible ideas from the children who joined us.

We start our sessions with a warm up (usually to Zumba), play some improv games (wink, wink murder was a favourite) and then sing some of the musical classics! This term we covered "Revolting Children" from Matilda- The Musical, "Hard Knock Life" from Annie and "Consider Yourself" from Oliver! 

The children excelled themselves with choreography ideas, putting themselves forward to sing solos and thinking about props- there are, of course, so many elements to theatre than just meets the eye! 

Our original plan was to run for 6 weeks/half a term and we ended up running for the full term as we had so much fun, we even recruited extra ensemble who had heard our rehearsals and wanted in! (Who wouldn't?!) 

We've run through cold weather and heatwaves, and the children have continued to be positive and encouraging to each other. They should be incredibly proud of what they achieved and we hope they have been inspired to dive further into the wonderful world of drama and theatre! 

We finished the term with a last minute "ShowCase" for the parents (thank you to those who came and watched) which the children undertook with young professionalism.

We are already excited to offer this club again next year- watch this space!"

Goodbye to the Class of 2026

What a month it has been for our Year 6 class, as they enjoyed lots of activities to mark the end of their time with us here at Grayswood School.

So many trips we may have lost count, the Leavers Fair which raised over £200 for the British Red Cross, one final walk around the village with Mrs. Spicer, the Leavers Assembly (not a dry eye in the house!), and then to finish off in style, the Year 6 Production where each and every one of the 31 children absolutely shone!

You will all be so missed, but we know that you are all ready for the next chapter in your lives and will excel in all you do. Please make sure you keep in touch!

Free Online Support for Parents of Children with SEN

During the school summer holidays, there are several free online support and information sessions for parents and carers across the UK.

The sessions will provide practical support around autism, ADHD, executive functioning, sensory processing, emotional regulation and understanding what may be happening behind a child or young person’s behaviour.

The sessions are open to parents and carers, including those whose child does not yet have a diagnosis. Families can attend from home, keep their cameras off and participate in whatever way feels comfortable for them.

Just to remind parents/carers of our attendance policy. If you take your child/children out of school without authority for 5 or more days (which do not have to be consecutive), then the following will apply:

1. If you have not incurred a penalty notice relating to this child/children in a rolling 3 year period since 19 August 2024, then the penalty notice will be charged at the rate of £160.00, per parent/carer per child, if paid within 28 days. This will be reduced to £80.00 if paid within 21 days of receipt of the notice. Failure to pay the Penalty Notice will result in Surrey County Council considering legal proceedings against you in the Magistrates Court.

2. If you have incurred a penalty notice relating to this child/children since 19 August 2024, the rolling 3 year period will be activated from the date of the first penalty notice and the second penalty notice will be charged at the flat rate of £160.00, per parent/carer per child, if paid within 28 days. There will be no reduction for payment within 21 days. Failure to pay the Penalty Notice will result in Surrey County Council considering legal proceedings against you in the Magistrates Court.

3. If you have incurred 2 penalty notices relating to this child/children in the rolling 3 year period since the first penalty notice was issued, then you will NOT receive a third penalty notice – Surrey County Council will have no option but to consider a prosecution, per parent/carer per child, in the Magistrates Court under s 444 Education Act 1996.

Surrey County Council is not responsible for authorising pupil absence and therefore cannot withdraw any Penalty Notice requests without the written permission of the Headteacher.
