Universal Free School Meals

If your child/children currently attend our school or is/are due to start this September we do need to know whether you would like them to have school meals.

Additional Information

  1. *A cash alternative is not available for those pupils not taking a Universal Free School Meal from September 2014.
  2. ‘Universal Free School Meals’ is different to ‘Free School Meals’. ‘Free School Meals’ is the entitlement provided to those individuals who are in receipt of certain benefits or whose annual income is at certain level.
  3. Year 3 children do not qualify for Universal Free School Meals.
If you have a child in Year 3 from September 2014 who already is registered for school meals you will continue to pay for them in the usual way. Please still complete the form attached for your Year 3 child. If your child is a new starter and in Year 3 from September 2014 and you would like them to have school meals please contact our school office.

Please print out the form below and complete one form per child (also complete a form for your child if they are moving up to Year 3). Please then post, email or give it to our school office by the first day of the new Autumn Term.

If you have already received a our school NEW STARTER PACK, completed and returned all the information to us you do not need to fill in this form.

What are Universal Free School Meals?

From September, all pupils in these year groups will be able to receive a school meal at no cost to the parent/guardian* as recently announced by the government. School meals at our school are healthy, tasty, social and fun and from September 2014 choosing a school lunch for your child/children will help save you up to £400 per year if you take up the offer.

In Surrey we anticipate that this will be a popular offer with children, parents and guardians. To help us plan for your child and their school for September, please complete the form overleaf and return to our school office by 4th September 2014.

Quality food, every day…

Our school has meals freshly prepared every day. We use high quality ingredients which provide the right amount of energy to ensure that children can work better in the afternoons.

  • All meat is ‘Farm Assured’ and ‘Red Tractor’ accredited British meat is used.

  • All eggs used are free range and sourced locally

  • All fish served is Marine Stewardship Council (MSC - certified sustainable seafood)

  • Fresh fruit or locally produced yogurt is available as an alternative to dessert every day

  • Our kitchen achieved and awarded Level 5 Food Hygiene Standard

Meat and vegetarian options are available every day, and we can cater for children who have other dietary requirements where a menu is agreed in advance. This can include religious, cultural or allergy and/or intolerance diets.

From September 2014 you will be able to view our school’s weekly menu on this page of our website.

Can my child still bring a packed lunch?

Yes they can, but we would encourage them to try a school lunch. This will give them a varied and balanced diet and save you time and money. To help ensure that our school is able to claim the correct level of funding and help us plan for the increase in children having a school lunch from September 2014, please provide the details requested on the form below and return it to our school office the first day of term.
