First of all I would like to say a huge thank you for all your good wishes and lovely gifts I have received. I am feeling quite overwhelmed by your kindness and generosity.
This morning we have said goodbye to five of our great staff team. Jon Scott has been an excellent LSA and is now moving on to train as a secondary geography teacher. Lucy Gibbons joined us in December and, along with Chris, has bought stability, love and fun to the Swifts. She has been appointed as a year six teacher at William Cobbett School in Farnham. Our good friend Pip Piper has worked mainly in Swifts this year and has now offered to become our ‘go to’ supply teacher as well as Frogs leader and most importantly Immy and Ted’s mum. Nicky Burgoyne has had a highly successful Newly Qualified Teacher year with Swallows and we congratulate her on passing the year with flying colours! She is returning to Liphook School, where she lives, was a TA and trained.
Charlotte Morrison has been an absolute tower of strength in the school over the recent, turbulent years. Her commitment to children and their learning is second to none. We wish her and all the others the very best for the future.
As I move on, I am confident the school is stable, secure and has every opportunity to move from strength to strength. Our new leadership team of Anna and Hannah, along with Jo Fraser and Richard Stanton has huge potential and I really look forward to hearing of many successes and good news in the future.
We actually completed our staff team yesterday with the appointment of our last LSA. We have some exceptional new teachers joining us who, along with the great team already here, will provide wonderful learning opportunities for all the children.
I have been privileged to work here over the past 10 months working with such an amazing school family. Singling people out is dangerous but I would like to mention a few who are keystones of the school and have supported me every step of the way; the staff especially Hannah and Anna, the governors’ with the personal input of Andrew McQuillan and Fiona Tough, Barbara and Fiona from the church and of course our great admin trio of Jo Jackson, Michelle and Katie. The constant kindness and support of you as parents especially the stunning focus group who worked, gave great feedback and practical ideas and particularly the children who are friendly, happy, loyal and dependable – quite exceptional.
I once ran a conference and in one session we wondered what Heaven was like! Well I can certainly tell you that Grayswood School is a bit like heaven – happy, enthusiastic people working for a common good. I do pray for God’s continued blessing on the school and hope that I will be able to help in some ways in the future.
With best wishes
FEEDBACK FROM THE FOCUS GROUP
I will be suggesting to Jo Fraser that we have a small working party (including local residents) to consider the thorny problem of parking. Some really great new ideas were suggested on Wednesday evening.
In the same way we could have a working group of parents, staff and governors looking at school meals and how they might be improved upon leading to a greater take up.
